Microsoft says Surface Laptop Ultra will go on sale on October 16, with the base configuration priced at $2,599. The company revealed the launch date alongside other RTX Spark devices. The announced starting model pairs an 18-core CPU with 24GB of RAM and 512GB of storage.
How did Microsoft reach the launch date?
Microsoft had revealed Surface Laptop Ultra months before announcing when it would ship. The October 16 date now gives buyers a stated point to plan around. The company also opened preorders on the day of its announcement, according to the source report.
The launch is presented alongside other devices equipped with Nvidia RTX Spark. The source describes RTX Spark as an Arm-based processor and says Microsoft and Nvidia position such laptops at the premium end of the market. It says the devices are designed for creative software, gaming and local AI tasks.
What does the base configuration include?
Microsoft lists the entry configuration at $2,599, with an 18-core CPU, 24GB of RAM and 512GB of storage. Those figures define the announced starting specification and price. The source does not identify the processor clock speed or storage type.
The laptop has a 15-inch HDR touchscreen, with peak brightness of up to 2,000 nits, the source reports. It also has a larger trackpad with haptic feedback. The report does not state display resolution or battery capacity, so those details cannot be compared from the available information.
What changes across the range?
The source says Surface Laptop Ultra is offered in several configurations, with the highest priced at $5,899.99. That configuration includes 128GB of RAM, a 20-core CPU and 1TB of storage. The article does not provide specifications or prices for every option between the base and top models.
Microsoft’s laptop uses an aluminum chassis and includes three USB-C ports, an HDMI port and one USB-A port. The reported connections also include a full-size SD card reader and a 3.5mm headphone jack. Charging uses a magnetic USB-C solution, according to the source.
What remains to be confirmed?
The source provides a launch date, price points and selected specifications, but it does not state availability by country. It also does not explain whether all configurations will be available on October 16. Buyers will need Microsoft’s sales information to confirm those details.
The next concrete step is the stated October 16 launch, following the preorder opening. No independent performance results or battery figures appear in the material. Microsoft and Nvidia’s positioning around creative work, gaming and local AI therefore describes intended use, not a measured result.
